For all of us, enthusiasts and users of agricultural machinery, the "shredded" season has always had a special charm and that something extra on an attractive level compared to any other work. Main reason we believe is undoubtedly the large number of vehicles involved.
The year 2015 saw the entry of a new protagonist of the mulched that has done and will talk a lot about itself in the coming years: this is the new 8000 self-propelled forage harvester by John Deere. Being, not one of the news, but for many, the novelty of the year, has certainly been in the course of 2015 subject of research and curiosity of many and we can not exclude from this multitude even us of the team of AgroWorld.
"Agromeccanica Danelli" based in the municipality of Vailate in the province of Cremona was one of the first companies to buy and receive this new product by John Deere, specifically, a 8600i. Thanks to them at AgroWorld we could see it at work and get it back.
The new 8000 series of John Deere self-propelled forage harvester is available in Italy for the year 2015 in four models, 8300, 8400, 8500 and 8600. All four models share the engine, which is a John Deere PowerTech PSX 13, 5 liters, 6 cylinders in line, in compliance with the emission regulations corresponding to the Final Tier 4 step. The maximum power of these machines ranges from 490 hp / 360kW for the 8300 to 625 hp / 460 kW for the 8600; the models 8400 and 8500 instead develop respectively a maximum power of 540 hp / 397 kW and 585 hp / 430 kW. For the year 2016, two more models will be available, identified with the codes 8700 and 8800, which, having greater power given by the generous Cummins QSK 19, 6-cylinder engine in line with the Tier 2 emission standards, with 19000 cc of displacement, will complete the range. For those interested the 8700 will have a maximum power of 766 hp / 563 kW while the 8800 of 843 hp / 620 kW.
: Only in terms of information we say that in the 8000 series there are two other models, 8100 and 8200, but they are not available for the Italian market.
In the development of this new mulcher John Deere seems to have given a lot of space to users taking advantage of practical advice to improve efficiency, product quality, comfort, traction, profitability and reliability. All of these entries are identifiers of the John Deere 8000 Series product.
But let's get back to the video model, the 8600i. "Agromeccanica Danelli" has paired its machine with a Kemper 460 Plus headboard in John Deere color. This head has a working width of 6 meters and a transport of 3 meters. During the work it allows to "incorporate" up to eight rows of corn at the same time. A characteristic that distinguishes it is the presence of four large "rotors" all having the same diameter.
As for direct competitors we can say looking at the developed power that the 8600i will have to "deal" with Claas Jaguar 960 (Mercedes Benz 15600 cc 6-cylinder engine in line that develops 626 hp / 460 kW at 1700 rpm), Krone Big X 600 (16.16l Man V8 engine with 624 hp / 459 kW), Krone Big X 630 new model that will probably replace the Big X 600 (engine MTU 15.6l 6-cylinder in-line 626 hp / 460 kW) and the new New Holland FR 650 (FPT Cursor 16 16-cylinder 15927 cc engine with a maximum power of 653 hp / 480 kW).
Wishing everyone a good vision, we conclude that together with the shredder there are several John Deere series 7010, 6020 and 6030 tractors, all combined with three-axle trailers, one with only two axles. The trailers present are Ravizza and Vaia.
AgroWorld staff thanks "Agromeccanica Danelli" for the availability and courtesy shown throughout the season.
